A smashed glass pane is mounted externally onto an art gallery’s window, creating the illusion that the actual pane has been hit. This refers to destructive elements in the artistic process; at the same time, it anticipates an attack on art itself as a symbol of self-serving luxury.

A smashed pane of glass, which has been mounted on the window pane of the exhibition space from the outside, thus giving the impression that the actual pane has been attacked, refers on the one hand to the destruction and violence that can be necessary in artistic processes. At the same time, the broken pane anticipates an attack on the “space of art”, which could be interpreted as superfluous, detached or, in its self-referentiality, as an elite symbol from “outside”.
