In the showcases of the former Capitol cinema (closed in 1996, last film: “Gestohlene Herzen”/Stolen Hearts), which we had renovated, three films showing in Neustadt were announced with posters and film stills; the showcases were illuminated between 6pm and 11pm, as were two windows at the entrance to the cinema. The posters designed by Stephanie Kiwitt, which were presented in these showcases, were based on the design patterns of typical movie posters. However, the titles and stories are fictitious, based on staged and archived footage taken by Stephanie Kiwitt in Neustadt.

Curious passers-by/cinema-goers, attracted by the illuminated showcases, the lighting in the cinema and the cinema advertisements in the local newspaper, quickly realized that there was no real cinema in the Capitol. On closer inspection, they discovered their own surroundings and familiar faces from Neustadt on the posters and stand photos.
