4 police cordon signs with the inscription “The parking of bicycles is prohibited” were exchanged for similar signs with the inscription “The parking of traitors is prohibited”. The intervention plays with the Saxon dialect, which makes the two words “bicycles” and “traitors” sound almost identical.

The large-scale cordoning off of Wächterstraße in Leipzig, which has made it impossible to drive through, access the Academy of Visual Arts and generally enter this public space in order to protect the Amerikahaus since 2001, also does not tolerate bicycles being parked in large numbers in front of the Academy. This expansive barricade, this “preventive measure”, ruthlessly occupies the public space for an indefinite period of time. Any request by the student body, the university management or individuals to withdraw this occupation must show understanding for the “politically compelling situation”, because anyone who refuses to accept the necessity of an occupation in the name of democracy is making themselves a traitor.
