Installation of 84 photographs

In 2000, the Leipzig district of Plagwitz was an external site of EXPO 2000, which took place in Hanover. Expo 2000 was the first “world exhibition” in Germany. Its motto was “Man, Nature and Technology - A new world is emerging”.

I invited the residents of Plagwitz to take a photographic portrait of themselves with an “exhibit” of their choice and thus show something of their world. The photos were presented in an exhibition. At the end of the exhibition, each entrant was able to take a photo with them, excluding their own. This project, which was not an official EXPO project, attempted to initiate a process of identification of the residents with themselves and their district with a view to the neighborhood environment.
