fly of the pigeons

Taube als Akroterienfigur auf dem Dach der Leipziger Oper / pigeon at the roof of the opera house
2/8

Four golden pigeons, each about 1.80m high, adorn the four corners of the neoclassical Leipzig opera house's roof. Being sculptures, these birds cannot take off, but nevertheless express a striking readiness to take flight at any moment.

For a few weeks’ time, the birds really will take flight. Day after day, they will appear on buildings around the opera house, changing their locale frequently and finally landing back at their original position on the opera house.
